Quetico Park

Quetico is a canoeist's paradise covering 4,800 square kilometers of wilderness in Northwestern Ontario. The primitive area of drinking water lakes, sand beaches and towering pine forests offers one of the most spectacular wilderness settings on the North American continent. Quetico Park, located near Atikokan, features over 3,000 miles of waterways lined with giant red and white pines. Paddle and portage through the many interconnecting lakes and rivers in this land of cliffs, waterfalls and forests. The lakes and rivers provide the only mode of transportation within the park. Motorized boats are not allowed in the park, giving the canoeist a truly peaceful visit.

Paddle Historic Waterways

You can follow the routes of the "Voyageur" fur traders of the 1600's across the same sparkling, drinking water lakes, down the same shaded streams and over the same blazed portages. You will see Ojibway rock paintings going back into antiquity, centuries before the European explorers arrived. It is here, where the waters divide, some flowing to the Atlantic and the balance to the Arctic Ocean, that you will paddle, fish, and explore the remote waterways.

Since Quetico is such an exciting destination, we have more information on the park and the outfitters that can help you plan your canoe trip in Quetico Provincial Park on a separate webpage. For more information on this incredible wilderness experience you can also call 1-800-ONTARIO or visit the Ontario Parks website at www.OntarioParks.com. Access to Quetico is restricted and park permits are required - make sure you call ahead! Contact the park in advance at 807-597-2735 in to make reservations and to find out more about the different entry points.
