Crappie Fishing on the Canadian Shield Lakes of Ontario

Crappie Fishing at SunsetEver had the good fortune to fish out of a barrel? If you're here at the right time of year, the right time of day and you're fishing for crappie, that's what it'll feel like. Well, we're going out on a limb a bit with that one but seriously folks, the crappie fishing can seem that good at times. Black crappie are another favourite of panfish anglers and we have some of the best crappie fishing around. A schooling fish, crappie are not always easy to find but when you do locate them, you're usually over a lot of fish. Crappie fishing is the best through the ice or just after ice out, when they move inshore to feed. In most cases, you'll find them in 20 to 40 feet of water or suspended along deep weedlines. Live minnows on a small jig work great.

This popular pan fish can be found in large numbers in certain lakes. A true delicacy, crappie make for some of the best eating if you love to eat fish. Why not visit us and give it a try? Link to lodges and resorts below and ask the operators about crappie fishing opportunities available at their location.
