 Sunset Country boasts some of the world's best wilderness canoeing. With 100,000 lakes and rivers there is always another body of water just around the corner - explore the wilderness backcountry! Paddle in one of many Provincial Parks which provide hundreds of interconnected waterways that are perfect for canoeing and kayaking. In Northwestern Ontario you'll find Quetico, Woodland Caribou and Wabakmi Wilderness Provincial Parks to name a few. Many canoeists also come to Sunset Country to paddle the famed Bloodvein, Severn and Berens River Systems. In Turtle River-White Otter Wilderness Area, tour operators and outfitters can help you discover migratory birds feeding at the wild rice bays, Native Pictographs lining the cliff shores and thundering Horse Falls. Your canoeing adventure in Sunset Country can be anything from a quiet afternoon on a calm river to a guided excursion lasting several days. Equipment rentals and guides are available.
